Why the Color Clues Matter So Much
The entire game lives in how you read those three colors after each guess. A single green letter locks that position down for the rest of the round, so it's worth reusing in every future guess rather than accidentally overwriting it. Amber letters are just as valuable — they confirm a letter belongs in the word, so the real puzzle becomes figuring out which of the remaining empty spots it fits into. Gray letters matter too, if only by elimination: crossing a letter off mentally narrows the pool of possibilities faster than most players expect, especially by the third or fourth guess.
A Few Strategy Tips
Open with a word that uses five different, common letters rather than a word with repeated letters — this gets you the most information back from a single guess. Vowel-heavy openers tend to work well early, since knowing which vowels are or aren't in the word cuts the possibilities down quickly. Once you've got a green or amber letter locked in, build your next guess around it instead of starting fresh each time. And don't be afraid to use a guess purely to test letters you're unsure about, even if it isn't your best guess at the actual answer — trading one guess for more information is often worth it in the first half of the round.
